Trip planning:
An itch to travel just does not disappear. Just try and turn it off. We just
finished our Europe trip last October but I still have an itch. In many ways
my itch (now) is to drive. I want a road trip. Yet, where to go? I have time
off but the wife does not. Yet, even if she had a week where could you
legitimately drive too? We are in a weird spot. Calgary, Alberta is right in the
middle of nowhere. It is three hours to the boarder and from there is even
more hours of driving. Yet, there are things not that far away, if you had
time.
My wife likes to bug me that I hate driving. Why do a road trip if you
hate driving. I love driving but I don’t like driving ten hours. It tires (pardon
the pun) me out. Where is the relaxation if you’re driving all day? Yet, a road
trip from here requires a bit of driving. At-least three hours to anything. Yes,
Banff is closer but it is “been there done that” a ton. I know that
Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and a few others are not that far from me. I just
want a week to get there.
I am also looking at some concert and running trips. I would consider
going to Seattle to see someone. Personally, I would like to do a hockey
road trip. Maybe hit the L.A. area. I would love to do an NFL tour though the
mid-west. A bunch of things are in the east but I am in the west. Not that
keen on doing a cross country road trip. Although it would be interesting.
The problem is not going one way. No, it is having to come back. It is too
long for me. Yet, you could convince me to hike the Pacific crest trail. Yet,
not alone. No, the wife would not set foot on it.
Clearly, I have an itch to continue traveling. I would like to see Bryce
Canyon and Salt Lake. Yes, I went to Salt Lake but did not see the Lake! It
has been years since I saw Old faithful blow. What else was around there I
did not notice? Looking at races all over the western states. I would also
love to stay at Leavenworth Washington at Christmas. It looks cool pardon
the pun. So, in the coming months I will find something because travel is
still burning a hole in me!
